David G. Vasquez

David G. Vasquez, 78, of Temple, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on September 8, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 6, 1948, in Kingsville, Texas, David was the beloved son of the late Estanislado Vasquez and Maria Garza. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, David lived a life defined by hard work and adventure. David proudly served in the National Guard and later enjoyed a successful career with Exxon, where he worked for more than 20 years before retiring. He was respected for his strong work ethic and determination. A true outdoorsman, David had a passion for hunting and spending time in nature. He was a jack of all trades who could fix just about anything and was always ready to tackle a new project. One of his greatest joys was hitting the open road on his Harley-Davidson, embracing the freedom and adventure that came with every ride. David was preceded in death by his parents, Estanislado and Maria Vasquez, and his brother, Albert Vasquez of Temple, Texas. He is survived by his children, David Vasquez Jr. (Juan) of Houston, Texas; Mark Vasquez of Kingsville, Texas; LeAnn Vasquez of Temple, Texas; and Melissa Garza (Carlos) of San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Ileanna Jaso (Jason) and Anisa Guajardo, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; David Liscano of Temple, Texas; and Cristian Garza, Cian Garza, Cai Garza, and Coralie Garza, all of San Antonio, Texas. David is also survived by his sisters, Diane Olivares and Delma Vasquez, both of Temple, Texas; Graciela Cruz of Tampa, Florida; and his brother, Abel Vasquez of Wichita, Kansas. He is further survived by his wife, Thelma Vasquez of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family members; and his faithful companions, Bandit and Zippy, who brought him comfort, companionship, and joy. David's legacy lives on in the countless memories he created and the lessons he taught. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. A celebration of David's life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 5 – 8pm at Affordable Burial & Cremation, 2006 North W. S. Young, Ste 60, Killeen, TX 76543
