Deborah A Mckibben

Deborah (Debie) Seay McKibben, 68, died Friday, June 28, 2024, in San Marcos, Texas. It is with sad hearts we say goodbye to our beloved mother, sister, and grandmother. Her love and comfort shaped our lives. Debie, was born in Albany, Georgia to Jo Anne (Counts) and Thomas Jefferson Seay, Jr. on October 18, 1955. She grew up in/around central Texas as due to her fathers job of a preacher, moving was a constant. She graduated Robert E. Lee High School in 1973, and attended Christian and Lee Collage. She married John McKibben on October 12, 1979 in Dallas, Texas. Debi and John were married until 1985. Debie and John had three children; Courtney, Thomas (Tommy), Melissa in 1980, 1981, and 1983 respectively. Being a child of the 50’s and growing up into the 60’s she had a love for a wide berth of music including artist as The Beatles, The Monkees, Jim Croce, James Taylor, and Pink Floyd. She had an affection for the classic Disney animated movies with Bambi and Lady and the Tramp being among her favorites. Debie mostly worked in office settings doing administration and reception work for non-profits including the Children’s Home of Central Texas. But more importantly she was a full-time mother and grandmother most of her adult life. Debie helped raise and in many ways shaped her grandchildren’s lives. She was devoted to making life fun, fostering their interests and loves in life, and trying her hardest to keep their child-like innocents in-tact. Debie is preceded in death by both parents, Jo Anne Seay and Thomas J. Seay, Jr., and brother Donald Seay. She is survived by her two brothers David and Daniel Seay; Her three children, Courtney Champion (husband William), Melissa, and Thomas McKibben (wife Jamie); and eight grandchildren who affectionately reared to her as Mema, Dylan Tomas Torres, Maddison Anne McKibben, Miguel (Mikie) Calderon, Christian Lee Bradley, Sophia Tonabel McKibben, Thomas Jefferson (T.J.) Bradley, Kaylee Michelle Champion, and Madelyn (Maddie) Rose McKibben. The family would like to thank the Hospice personnel who made sure she was comfterable in her final weeks of her life, the extended family including the Bradley and Sanchez families, for their love and support during this emotionally taxing time.
