Frances Victoria DeCoux

With profound sadness and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Frances Victoria DeCoux, 74, of Austin, Texas. Frances departed this world on November 5, 2024, leaving behind a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion that touched countless lives. An Indianapolis native, Frances was born to Edwin and Erma (Jenkins) Mitchell, growing up in a full house with five siblings. Her early years fostered the strength and determination that would define her entire life. In a beautiful twist of fate, Frances met Roger Joseph DeCoux in 1990. They married on June 10, 1995, and began their extraordinary journey together in Austin, Texas. Their partnership was marked by joy, countless dances, and an enduring love that created a strong foundation for their blended family. Frances's professional life included 27 years at the University of Texas at Austin, where she served as a Senior Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 2017. Her colleagues remember her not only for her exceptional work ethic but for the warmth and dignity she brought to every interaction. Life for Frances was a dance to be enjoyed. She found joy at New West, where she and Roger would light up the dance floor with their country dancing. Her zest for life extended to her passion for collecting, each collectable holding a special story or memory. Throughout her battle with cancer, Frances demonstrated the same grace and determination that characterized her entire life. She faced each challenge with remarkable courage, never letting illness dim her bright spirit or her dedication to those she loved. She is survived by her devoted husband Roger DeCoux; her children Jean (Crumrine) Stafford, Janelle (DeCoux) Johnson, Jeff DeCoux, and Jeana DeCoux; her grandchildren: Megan (Johnson) Schruber, Chelsea Crumrine, Taylor DeCoux, Jennifer Croy, Grant DeCoux, Ethan DeCoux, Reilly (DeCoux) Hobbs, Kennedy DeCoux, and London DeCoux; her great-grandchildren: Peyton Schruber, Journey Kelly, Presley Schruber, and Colton Bailey; her brothers Donald and George Mitchell; and her brother-in-law Paul Beecher. Frances was preceded in death by her daughter Kimberley (Croy) Jackson, her parents, and her three sisters: Carol (Mitchell) Peten, Jean (Mitchell) Beechler, and Evelyn (Mitchell) Vachon. Frances's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and unconditional love. She showed us how to live fully, love deeply, and face life's challenges with grace and dignity. Honoring Frances's wishes and her selfless nature, the family requests that in lieu of funeral services, those wishing to pay tribute can make a donation to a breast cancer organization of their choice. Rest in peace, dear Frances. Your dance on earth may have ended, but your spirit continues to twirl in the hearts of all who loved you.
