Henry Reams

Henry Reams was born on August 1, 1949, in Wabbaseka, Arkansas. He was the son of the late Jeff and Mary (McCoy) Reams. He attended Wabbaseka Public Schools graduating from J.S. Walker High School. He later moved to Pine Bluff where he attended The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and graduated with a degree in education. After college, he joined the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. After graduation, he moved to Davenport, Iowa where he taught Social Studies and Science at Jefferson Elementary School. He later became principal after achieving his Master's Degree from Marycrest College. After his tenure of nearly thirty years in education with Davenport Community School District, and tenures at schools in Michigan, Florida, and Georgia, he moved to Austin, Texas. After a short-lived retirement stint, he started working at Home Depot and then ultimately returned to teaching as a woodworking and technology teacher at Kealing Middle School in Austin, Texas. This enabled him to combine two of his passions - teaching kids and working with wood. He finally retired from education in 2022 but continued to work at Home Depot. His first daughter was born in 1977 and then in June of 1988, he married Anita Strickland. Henry and Anita raised four daughters and one special nephew who lived with them for a period of time. Henry was a hard-working man who loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed many hobbies including photography, woodworking with his grandchildren, making wine, and cooking. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeff Reams; sisters Geraldine Thomas, Swayzine Humphrey, Bernice Adams, and Martha Washington. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Anita; his daughters, Sarah Wasaff (Michael) of Austin, TX, Jasmyne Terronez-Reams of Clarksville, TN, Desiree Reams, Kanyjha Reams, and Jabrionna Joiner of Austin, TX; and a very special nephew Ronald “Adonis” Mikos of Philadelphia, PA; his sisters, Pearline King of Buckeye, AZ and Linda Reams of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Maxwell Wasaff and Keaton Wasaff of Austin, TX, Zanyjha Leija and Payton Leija of Austin, TX and Jaylin Williams of Clarksville, TN.
