Linda June Kistler

The community of Bastrop, Texas will never be the same as we mourn the loss of a beautiful and spicy soul. Linda June Kistler passed away on May 30, 2026 following a family gathering in her honor earlier that day. Linda will be remembered as a lovable straight-shooter. We will not forget her feisty wit, authentic love of her friends and family, spicy sense of humor, and quick draw opinion to share on just about any topic. Linda was born on October 15, 1945. All who know and love Linda appreciates her welcoming spirit, and fierce loyalty to those she loved. Linda used to ride motorcycles with the Gypsies club. That is where she met her best friend, and eventually, the man who would become her husband, "Just Jack." She left Austin to join Jack in Bastrop. The entire family embraced Jack as if he were with us all along. In Bastrop Linda found a community she loved deeply and a place to truly call home. Linda’s greatest joy is time spent with her family, her grandchildren bring out her inner child. She enjoyed singing along with the best classic country tunes, and would stop to smell every single rose bush she ever saw. Linda usually won during family card games and really enjoyed time at local game rooms to pass the time. She collected ceramic roses and Native American art which reminded her of her ancestors (especially Maw Maw) and absolute favorite flower, the Rose. Her home was often shared with members of her family and friends all of whom were featured in a photo collage wall. Linda's memory lives with those closest to her: Daughter Kay Corr, husband Todd, Granddaughter Darsey Whitlow, husband Brandon, and great-grandson Rowen; Son Luther Spiegel, wife Tasha, granddaughter Somer, and great-grandson James; Grandson Lawrence Darsey. Linda spoke often of her nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loves dearly. Linda will now join her loving husband, “Just Jack” Kistler in heaven which brought her the most comfort in her final days with us. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Linda’s life on June 20 at 1pm at Mckinney Roughs Nature Park, 1884 State Hwy 71 West, Cedar Creek, Tx. Lunch will be served at the Wildflower Hall near the visitor center. Friends and family are encouraged to wear something red, Linda’s favorite color.
