Norman Frank Hugley

Norman Frank “Sunny Mann” Hugley passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the age of 81. Born November 6, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA, he is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Mae (Rice) Hugley, step-brother Frank Hugley Jr. and step-granddaughter, Erica Ighnat. As a proud United States Air Force veteran, poet, artist, entrepreneur and photographer, he received many recognitions and awards. His biggest accolade was for a poem he wrote at age 22, during the Vietnam War, for which he received the ‘Freedom Foundation Award’ in 1966. Sunny was not just a photographer, but a visionary who used his lens to elevate the human spirit. For him, photography was the divine art of creation, capturing time in a single, perfect moment. While his hands held the camera, his heart saw the beauty in everything and everyone. Through SMVP (Sunny Mann Video Photography), he turned portraits into masterpieces and strangers into friends. In doing so, he not only built a business, but a legacy of kindness, brilliance, and craftsmanship that will never fade. His knowledge was a gift to the community, and his wisdom and opinion a treasure to those he mentored. He was creative and artistic in every way; and this is reflected in the innate talent he has left behind in his children and grandchildren. Though he has laid down his lens, the spark of his artistry remains in the countless lives he touched and the beauty he has brought to light for generations to come. Surviving are his children, Norman “Sonny” (Elena) Hugley, Michelle (Joseph) Ighnat, Jeremy (Brittany) Hugley, Byron (Jorden) Hugley; and their mother Ottilia Hugley; his grandchildren Warren and Isabella Hugley, Savannah Hugley, Nicolette (Jacob) Forrester, Sonia Constable (Joshua), Joseph “Lino” Ighnat; step-grandchildren Kristalyn Ighnat (Trad), Emily Ighnat (Keirs), Karlie Ighnat (Zackary); great-grandchild Melody Forrester, and step-great-grandchildren Lucas, Vinchenza, Layne, NcKenna, Evelyn, Josie Mae, and Draven; his sister Martha (Gerardo) Hugley-Priori, three nieces and three nephews; his longtime companion Roswitha McGlown and her daughters Iris and Denise, and their families; his four legged children Spikey and Precious, and his numerous extended family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Harker Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation and Gentiva Hospice for their care and kindness. Memorials can be made to Jack Jack’s Pack in Central Texas, your local PBS broadcasting channel, or any local charity for the poor.
