Patricia "Pat" Suzanne Williams Hunter

Patricia “Pat” Suzanne Williams Hunter, 82 of Florence, Texas passed away in her home on the morning of March 5, 2023. Pat had been receiving hospice care for Parkinsonian symptoms since October. Pat was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 4th, 1940 to Herman and Bea Williams. She graduated from Jonesboro High School (Arkansas) in 1958, where she was awarded the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year Award. She attended Arkansas State College where she met the love of her life. She and Jasper “Gene” Hunter were married for over 63 years. She was intelligent, kind and a gracious soul. She was a great Army wife. Always attended the parades and greeted everyone. As an army wife she was active in the American Red Cross and served as a volunteer in Panama and Ft. Benning, Ga.. She supported her husband during his army career and especially liked Ft. Carson, Co., Wisconsin, Hawaii, and Panama. She was selected as Army Wife of the year in Panama. She was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts when her husband was in Vietnam. She volunteered on the Foundation Board for Metroplex Hospital for over 15 years, fiercely fundraising and serving the Killeen/Ft. Hood community. She loved to throw a party and was a great hostess.. She entertained three star generals and privates with equal care. She had a love for her family, reading, and a sharp wit. She was very funny and made you feel good being with her. After the Army, she sold Real Estate with the Jim Wright firm for seven years. She was a member of the Ft. Hood Area Board of Realtors. Then she was part owner of Hunter Rentals and Property Management doing the accounting. She also was part owner of The Garage Door Company and Hunter Construction. She is survived by her husband Jasper “Gene” of Florence, Tx, her son Kevin Hunter of Thrall, Tx., and his wife Kimbra Hunter, two granddaughters Whitney Alfaro of Pflugerville, Tx., and Katie Belock of Jacksonville, Fl., and three great grandchildren: Hunter, Patton, and Jasper. She is preceded in death by her son Mark Hunter, brother Bruce Williams, and parents Herman and Bea Williams. Pat desired to be cremated. A celebration of life services will be held at 1100 on March 25, 2023 at Central Christian Church in Killeen, Tx. The family requests donations to Central Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
