Sarah Pasch

Sarah J Pasch passed peacefully in Austin, TX at the age of 85 on July 12, 2023. She was born to N. John and Dorothy Pasch in Honolulu, HI right before WW2 and grew up with her brother John on the island of Oahu until departing with a heavy winter coat for North Dakota to attend college (yes, North Dakota) and study Fashion Merchandising. Sarah returned home for the summer only to meet the man she would soon marry, naval officer Frederick Eckart. Career opportunity took them to Florida where they began their family and later to Houston, Texas, raising five children, Celeste, Freddie, Rosalie, Dorie and John. Sarah later moved to Chicago to be close to her eldest son Freddie and worked there, also attaining the Master Gardener designation and delighting everyone with her beautiful spring and summer gardens. Sarah's deepest passions were for the study and discussion of Seth (with good friends Eileen, Yoli and Daniela), natural health and the protection of our planet and its living creatures. Dogs, cats and birds always had a place in her life. She loved music and dancing and stimulating conversation with family over martinis, at sidewalk's edge with neighbor Shirley, or on the phone with longtime friends Erin, Carol and Ginny. Sarah's deepest love was for her children and grandchildren and we each knew and felt her unconditional love. A determined and dynamic individual with strong survival instincts, Sarah lost her youngest son John 11 years ago, then developed rheumatoid arthritis which she suffered with in recent years, and then a serious stroke early this year, finally agreeing to leave her beloved home in Chicago and come back to Texas to be close to her daughters and their families. She was a firm believer that we each create our own reality and whatever happens in our lives is to serve our purpose here. She may have felt that she had accomplished what she came here to do, but for the rest of us it was too soon and we miss her terribly. Those she leaves behind: son Freddie (and partner Chuck), daughters Celeste, Rosalie (and husband David), and Dorie (and husband Ron), grandchildren Cassie (and husband Guillem and son Jackson), Daniel, Melissa (and husband Georgiy), Julianne, River and Jonathan. And dear brother John, his wife Theresa and their children and grandchildren. Our family will gather at a later date to honor Sarah's memory and share many favorite memories. We wish to express our most sincere gratitude to the hospice staff at Valerian and the caregivers at Parmer Woods for their faithful care, compassion and professionalism, helping make Sarah's final weeks as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
