Sarah Lise Sipocz

Sarah Lise (Swancar) Sipocz passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023 shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Lise is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Sarah & George Familette of Rocky Point, NC, Katherine & Adam Wagner of Austin, TX, and Rachel & Merl Click of Round Rock, TX. She was a loving nana to her grandchildren Devin Familette, Dominic Familette, Kendra Familette, and Reed Wagner. Lise is also survived by her sisters, Amy Swancar of Tampa, FL, Judy Sperka of Stephen’s City, VA, and Holly Thompson of Columbia, MD, along with their wonderful partners and children. She loved being a mother, a nana, a sister and an aunt. Lise was born on October 20, 1956 in Schenectady, NY to Sarah F. M. Knowlton Swancar and James R. Swancar, DDS. She spent several years in Cheyenne, WY while her father served as a Captain in the Air Force. She and her family moved to Shaker Heights in Ohio, a community that the whole family loved. Lise spent quality time with their grandparents in Cleveland, OH, Millbrook, NY and Jenny Lake, NY. Lise’s father loved photography, and looking at the photos he took has brought so much comfort to our family during this difficult time. The Swancar family later moved to Ellicott City, MD, and Lise stayed in Maryland until retirement. She moved to Round Rock, TX after retirement. Lise was caring, compassionate, independent, and strong, and she lived a life that was authentically her. She served as such an incredible role model for her daughters. Lise and her sisters grew up reading, and she devoured as many books as she could. She passed on her love of reading and the library to her children. After retirement, she would check out 15-20 books from the library every three weeks like clockwork. Even towards the end of her life, she was reading one book every day or two. Her favorite book was Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck. Lise did not want any fanfare when she passed. We respect her wishes and will not be having a memorial service even though we certainly think she lived a life worth celebrating. We are choosing to honor her in our daily lives and we ask that you join us in doing so.
