William Frank Bane

William “Billy Frank” Bane, 76, of Belton, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on March 25, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Billy Frank was born in Temple, Texas, July 23, 1947, to Billie (Mabry) and Frank Bane. After graduating from Academy High School, he joined the US Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Billy Frank received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter M-14 badge during his service. After returning to the US from Germany, he worked as a welder in multiple capacities for over 40 years. Billy Frank was a pioneer in the world of Game Fowl. When it came to breeding exceptional birds, he is said to be a legend by many in the sport. He was a member of the Texas Gamefowl Breeders Association. He was recently recognized by the Gamefowl Community for his years of hard work, dedication and passing down the history and cultural traditions of the majestic game cock. Billy Frank was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gay Carolyn “Cootsie” Curry. He is survived by his children: Billy Ray Bane, Christi Leitzke, and husband Jesse, Lisa Ruffino, and husband Charlie, Charles Bane, Colby Bane and wife Logan, and Laci Bane. Grandchildren: Kaylee Bane, Eric Bane, Hailey Bane, Chase Delao, Billy Bane, Jace Leitzke, Seth Leitzke, Jenna Leitzke, Aidan Leitzke, Rodie Ruffino, Madison Ruffino, Brody Bane, and Blu Bane. Great Grandchildren: Ellie Bailey, Marlowe Bailey, and Owen Bailey. Siblings: Kay Bonnie Lisenbe, Donna Dillard, Randy Bane, and Robin Bane. He is also survived by his best friend and beloved dog, Shorty Bane. Billy Frank enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, being at the chicken yard, and spending time with family and friends. He especially valued his time with his grandkids. Being a Papaw was his favorite accomplishment. He was an amazing cook, and everyone looked forward to the meals he made. His humor and unique phrases were loved by all who knew him. Everyone who interacted with him for any length of time got to hear at least one of his sayings. I think the unanimous favorite will always be…..UGHHHHH, I knew that was gonna happen!!!!! The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
