November 17, 1941 - December 5, 2020
On Saturday, December 5, 2020, Adele “Grace” Morris, loving wife and mother of two children, and six step children, passed away at the age of 79. Grace was born on November 17, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo to Harvey E and Adele B Summers. She graduated from Bayless high school and graduated from the Deaconess Hospital Nursing program in St. Louis. She was a nurse for over 15 years before changing careers and working for the IRS. She retired early to move to Gardnerville, Nevada with her second husband Ronald Merritt Morris where she spent her days admiring the beauty of the mountains and frequenting her favorite video poker and slot machines at CVI. In her last few years, she moved to Austin to live closer to her family. Grace had a passion for generosity and life. She never met a stranger and she always welcomed everyone into her home and her heart. She loved music and was especially inspired by the musicals she shared with her family as a child at the Muny Opera. One of her favorite songs was “Getting to know you” from the King and I, which represented who she was. She loved all animals, but especially dogs. At any time, she would stop to spend time petting the dogs she met. She lovingly cared for her own pack of 3 which included 2 rescues at home. She was known for her savvy pinochle skills, her gambling strategies, quick wit, infectious smile, humbleness, compassion, patience and grit. She had a love for coffee and diet Coke that was unmatched by any other beverages. Grace was preceded in death by her father Harvey, mother Adele, and brother Jim, her first spouse Jim Kondis and her second spouse Ron Morris. She is survived by her Sister Melba White, Grace’s daughter Zoi Kondis Texcucano and husband Alejandro Texcucano, and Grace’s son Nikos (Nick) Kondis and wife Dr. Jamie Kondis, Grace’s beloved Nephew Harvey Summers and his wife Laura, Grace’s grandchildren Eva, Marina, Demetrios (Jim), and John, her great nephew Zachary and great niece Zoe along with Grace’s stepchildren, her many other nephews and nieces their children and her many cousins including Bob. A private memorial service will be held in the mountains in Nevada overlooking her favorite spot. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Age of Central Texas, Hospice Austin, Alzheimer’s Association, your local animal shelter, or any other favorite charity. Thank you for remembering her joy in life.
