Barbara St John LaBaw Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara St. John LaBaw, 81, of Austin TX passed away of heart failure on July 11, 2022 at St David’s North Austin Medical Center. Barbara was born on October 28th, 1940 in Temple TX as the 3rd child of Frank & Fleeta Jones. Barbara was a graduate of Temple High School, attended Baylor University in Waco for undergraduate studies and completed her bachelor’s degree in 1962 at Mary-Hardin Baylor. In the beginning of Barbara’s career, she enjoyed teaching high school English in Chino, CA . Then she moved to Rochester MN for several years where she worked as the Director of Theater at Mayo High School. In 1975, Barbara had the opportunity to work as an Executive Consulting Coach for multi-national corporations in São Paulo, Brazil where she immersed herself in the culture and work. Barbara returned in 1985 to work for the State of Texas in Austin until her retirement and was a member of the TEC/TWC International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP). Barbara adored her family, her work family from the State, her kind neighbors, and spending time taking care of her cats. She was an avid reader of American & English literature and enjoyed listening to live local music. Barbara’s generous spirit and honest perspective will be missed by all who knew her. Barbara was preceded in death by parents Frank & Fleeta Jones of Temple TX, brothers Bill F Jones of Midland TX, Ted M Jones of Diamond MO, Robert R Jones of McGregor TX, and niece Barbara Ann Heers of Minneapolis MN. She is survived by sister Dr Jean Jones Heers of ST Paul MN, nephew Frank W Heers of Minneapolis MN, and niece Neely A Jones of Temple TX. A private burial will be held in Minnesota. Thank you to all of Barbara’s friends, neighbors, the staff at the Clairmont and the 4th floor acute care of ST David’s North Austin Medical Center.
