Carl Clifford Gaither Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carl Clifford “Doc” Gaither went to be with the Lord FRI 22 April 2022. Carl was born 03 June 1944 to Clifford C. Gaither (Air Force Officer) and F. Pearl Steveson (registered nurse). Carl was 77 years of age and resided in Killeen, Texas for 33 years. Carl married Alma E. Cavazos Dec 1995 and became stepfather to Melisa (Kyle), Marcus (Karla), Matthew (Josmarie), Maritza (Carlos), Marilynn (Gabino) grandfather to Malcolm, Timothy Michael JR (Alexis), Nayeli, Liliana, Carlito’s, Rigo (Rebecca), Gabino Jr, Jacob, and Aubree and great grandfather to Luis. Predeceased by his parent Clifford (2000) and Pearl Gaither (2002), stepson Maurice (2004), and mother-in-law Magdalena V. Cavazos (2004). Carl attend LaGrange High School in Lake Charles Louisiana. He enlisted in the US Navy and served as Aviation Antisubmarine Tech (AX2/E5) from Dec 1962 until Jan 1967. Carl’s education included University of Hawaii Manoa BA(Mathematics) 1972, McNeese State University MA (Psychology) 1974, Northeast Louisiana University MA (Criminal Justice) 1980, University of Southwestern Louisiana MS 1985. Carl was an author of the Speaking Series with his wife as co-author. They penned 9 volumes in the Speaking series of dictionaries of Scientific Quotations. He was a Hospital Administrator at Louisiana State Penitentiary Angola, Research Assistant at Texas Department of Corrections Huntsville, Operations Research Analyst for 10 years with the US Army. He taught several levels of mathematics at colleges, universities, and high schools. The last was Richard Milburn Academy in Killeen, Tx. His hobbies include stamp collecting, hiking, traveling, scuba diving, music, and underwater photography. Carl was awarded the Commander award for Civilian Service from the Department of the Army 1995. Memorial service will be THU 09 Jun 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Texas State Veteran Cemetery 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX. Family request that donations instead of flowers be made to Texas Humane Heroes of Killeen (https://humaneheroes.org/) in memory of Doc. He adopted Sophie, his service dog from them.
