Charles “Chuck” Ray MacKay Charles MacKay went to his final rest on March 25, 2015 – the feast of the Annunciation of the Lord, after a long battle with COPD. He lived with his wife and daughter’s family at the time of his death. Chuck spent the past 30 years caring for his wife, Patricia “Pat” MacKay and participating as an active member of the Rotary Club. He loved his Sun City neighbors, especially all those involved in the monthly AA – Attitude Adjustment – gatherings. His love of faith, family and friends will live on in all of us. Chuck was born on May 20, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to his parents, Ray MacKay (died in 1972) and Hazel Bernice Garvey (died March 2, 1967). His siblings include one sister and one brother; Mary Lou MacKay – born Feb 21, 1932 (died May 2, 1995) and James (Jim) MacKay – born April 16, 1935 lives in Virginia. He attended Marquette in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, wher he studied Psychology and Law and also St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Chuck married Patricia Mae Kollman on August 9, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Mass was officiated by his friend Dick Thomas. Chuck served in Korea in the US Army from 1955 – 1956. He started a long career in the insurance industry with Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. That career moved him to Texas where he undoubtedly belonged declaring himself “Texan by choice – not birth”. Most of the last four decades of his life are well documented in all of the photographs that he enjoyed scrap booking. Chuck is survived by his spouse, Patricia MacKay (Resides in Austin, Texas) and five children, Patrick (born June 14, 1959) – spouse Jana (Resides in Dallas, Texas), Mike (born March 13, 1961) – spouse Kratina (Resides in Catonsville, MD), Tom (born April 14, 1964) – spouse Cecilia (Resides in Austin, Texas), Kathy (born October 5, 1966) – spouse David Lutz (Resides in Austin, Texas), and John (born September 17, 1967 (Resides in Dallas, Texas). He has ten grandchildren; Nicolas (Nico) MacKay, Micaela (Mica) MacKay, Caleb MacKay, Sayla MacKay, Jacey MacKay, Sterling MacKay, Austin MacKay, Camilla MacKay, Megan Lutz, and Matthew Lutz. His brother, Jim MacKay. His sister-in-law, Fran Kollman, His daughter-in-law, Lola delValle. Nephews; Jim MacKay, Steve Kollman, Chris Kollman, Cale Kollman. Nieces; Cindy Monien, Sue Goldman, Ronda DeAngelis. And of course his life-long friends Bob & Rosalie Gentile. Services for Chuck are scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9500 Neenah Avenue, Austin, Texas 78717. Rev. Edward C. Koharchik presiding. Visitation at 9:30 am in the Daily Chapel, Rosary at 10 am in the Daily Chapel and Mass at 10:30 am in the Church. His interment is scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2015 at 2 pm in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
