Edward Ashline

Edward Mitchell Ashline of Hartford, Middletown, Wethersfield CT and Austin Texas, died February 14, 2011 in Austin. Born in Hartford, CT in 1928 to Myrvil A. and Mary Brinkman Ashline. He attended Hartford grammar schools, graduated from Bulkeley High School 1946 and the University of Hartford, cum laude, 1959. He served in the 1st Field Artillery Battalion during WWII with the occupation forces in Korea, 1946 to 1948, then with the 143rd Tank Battalion during the Korean Conflict, 1950 to 1952. He retired from Northeast Utilities in 1989, having started with HELCO in 1948. He began sport parachuting in 1962 and retired after 2000+ jumps by 1990. He was an avid skier, hiker, and motorcyclist for many years. He was the first 1st Lieutenant in the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Dept., Co. #3. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion Duffy Ashline, three loving daughters; Susan and husband Leland Beritiech of Austin, Danielle Ross of Big Spring TX, Cynthia Foss of Austin; granddaughter, Amaryllis (Foss) Kelly and her husband Tom of Crested Butte CO; two nieces Claudia E. Ashline, Andrea DiBella Johnson, nephew William A. DiBella, and sister-in-law Lucy G. Ashline, all of CT, and his beloved kitty, Bastet. He is also survived by several cousins in CT and VT, and his good friends Mitchell David of Wethersfield CT and Patrick Foss of Golden CO. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Philip J. Ashline; a sister, Alma A. DiBella McCarthy; and two brothers, William B. and Ronald E. Ashline, and son-in-law, Maurice P. Ross.
