Hope Guajardo
July 3, 1935 - November 26, 2012
Esperanza "Hope" Guajardo Born in Taylor, Texas July 3, 1935 and returned to the angels on November 26, 2012 It is hard to imagine the Guajardo family without Hope. She now joins her parents, Eloy & Soledad Guajardo, and a Sister & Brother-In-Law, Mary & Ramiro Diaz, & two siblings who passed at birth Maria Antonia & Jose Guajardo at our Lord?s table. One cannot appreciate unless you were there the endless sacrifices she made for her family & close friends. Many remember Hope in her most public persona behind the cash register at Guajardo's Cash Grocery store. The family recognizes that her brightest moments were behind the scenes, where her love and loyalties lent such a big part in helping raise & nurture 5 nephews as if they were her own children. Her life long commitment to the memory of her Mother, which during her Earthly time Hope was vital in her Mom's well being and care. The endless devotion and care for her Mother in those final years were astonishing. But it was Aunt Hopie to Roland & Ricky Diaz, along with John, Robert & Jose Falcon that she poured every bit of her unselfish innocence upon to help raise. Through this one act of love alone she made herself a true Earth Angel to all their children that have followed. The angelic innocence she shared with us in this complex world was truly an inspiration. She captivated us all with that innocence, followed by a plate of picadillo & fideo or maybe it was that great fried chicken on that particular day, or if you were lucky and the season was right maybe it was tamales & bunuelos that awaited you. It was not just about feeding your tummy, but filling your memories and soul about days gone by. The bus rides as youngsters to accompany her downtown to shop at Scarbrough's (Austin's first skyscraper) or in the days that Highland Mall was a destination point where she doted on her nephews. You were reminded of the time Guajardo's Cash Grocery & Market was a catalyst for many careers and a big part of history to this community. Aunt Hopie was the one that worked tirelessly behind the scenes so that our dreams could become our reality. She is survived by one Sister & Brother-In-Law, Guadalupe G. Falcon & Juan "Sonny" Falcon, their 3 sons, John David, Roberto Jaime & Jose Alberto Falcon. Nephews Roland & Ricky Diaz & countless Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Nieces & Cousins. Instead of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center- "Arts & Crafts Fund" care of the Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center, 808 Nile St. Austin, TX 78702.
