James Len Cox Sr.
July 11, 1939 - July 18, 2020
James “JC” Len Cox Sr., age 81, soul left his body on July 18, 2020 at Metroplex Adventist Hospital in Killeen, Texas. His battle, as a result of COVID-19, ended. He was born July 11, 1939 in Louise, MS. to McKinley and Laura (Haywood) Cox. JC attended Montgomery High School in Louise, MS. In May of 1960 he married, his High School sweetheart, Betty. They settled in Chicago, IL where he identified his passion for cars. He worked at City Auto Sales prior to landing his career job, as a welder, at the Electromotive Division of the General Motors (GM) Corporation. As a hobby, he labored as the neighborhood mechanic. JC had an established reputation for driving shiny red GM vehicles. JC dressed in the most dapper attire. He was humorous, affable and charming. His favorite past time was watching western movies. To know him is to know that he could be a tornado, when provoked. His personality made him a cut above the rest. JC was a loyal and devoted member of World of Life Fellowship Church in Killeen, TX under Pastor Larry Ford and First Lady Judy. He loved and was loved sincerely by his church family. Growing up, JC was the middle child between the late Katie Lee Wallace of Detroit, MI. and his surviving beloved brother McKinley “Bay” Jr. of Glenwood, IL. JC and his former spouse Betty had five children; James “Bookie” L. Cox Jr., late Kevin D. Cox, Kimberly (Patrick) A. Curry, Mark A. Cox and Timothy L. Cox; grandchildren Javon Tucker, Ashley Holcomb, Brianna (David) Russell, Keshawnna Coppage, Jayden Holyfield-Cox, Kimberly “Taylor” Curry and Jadah Holyfield. In addition, JC leaves to mourn his kids; Yvette, Veronica (Stanley), Valencia and DeVaughn; grandkids Veronica, Verlaiya, Veyonce, Terrisha, Montesha, Tre’mone, Quashaunda, Darnell, Lakendra and Shavona; nephew McKinley “Kenny” III; cousins Julius and Eddie; and a host of great grands, relatives and friends. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the family will have a “LIFE” celebration O/A July 11, 2021. Please save the date.
