James Patrick (J.P.) O?Neill 69, of Copperas Cove, Texas died at 9 PM at the Central Texas VA Hospital in Temple Texas. James was born on September 16th, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He married Hwang Ki Sun on December 6th 1974. Surviving are his ex-wife and children, Edward Michael O?Neill, CMR, of Fort Sill, OK; Margaret Mary (O?Neill) Kalkbrenner of Scio, New York and James Joseph O?Neill of Naples, Florida. Also surviving are his sisters, Kathleen (O?Neill) Phillips of Canton, Il; Maureen (O?Neill) Reevs of Marquette, Michigan; Colleen O?Neill of Columbia Falls, Montana; Patricia (O?Neill) Peterson of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; Mary Frances (O?Neill) Johnson of Antioch, Il. Brothers include Jeffrey O?Neill of Big Fork, Montana, John Christopher O?Neill of East Otto, New York and Joseph O?Neill of Canton, Il. Preceding James in death are his sister Margaret Ann (O?Neill) Cser and his parents James J. and Mary M. O?Neill. James served in Korea and the Viet Nam war. His specialties included the following: Tactical Communications System Operator, Tactical Satellite/Microwave Repairer and Multi-channel Communications Operator for 20 years. His decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation medal (w 1 Oak Leaf Cluster) , Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea) Vietnam Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Medal, Army and Overseas Service Ribbons; and finally the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and Campaign Medal. J.P. retired from the Armed Forces in August of 1987. James will be buried at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date
