Robin Yvonne Midyett
November 29, 1956 - September 24, 2021
Robin Midyett, 64 November 29th,1956- September 24th, 2021 Robin was a daughter, beloved mother, trusted sister, and loyal friend. More importantly she was a child of God who ran into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father the moment she left this broken world on September 24, 2021. The youngest of five children, Robin was born November 29,1956, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. She was a 1975 graduate of Waynesboro High School and in 1976 she married David Schlegel, together they had two children - Michael David, and Jackie Lee. Although Robin and David would eventually part ways, their friendship and love for the memories they shared never faded. Robin remained a welcomed member of the Schlegel family and formed a unique friendship with David’s wife Laily. She enjoyed joining David and Laily on many memorable summer family vacations. In 2007, Robin fulfilled her lifelong dream of traveling the world by becoming a flight attendant. She took enormous pride in her work at Delta Airlines and loved engaging with her passengers and fellow crew members. It was not uncommon for Robin to be found cuddling an infant passenger or purchasing food for her military customers as a token of her appreciation for their service. She had a heart of gold and truly felt it an honor to make a difference in the thousands of lives she encountered throughout her travels. Eleven years later in 2018, Robin committed the selfless act of giving up the career she loved to become a full time caretaker for her oldest granddaughter Ashlyn. Ashlyn has special needs, and for three years Ashlyn and Grandma were known in the Bastrop, Texas, area as a dynamic duo. They loved shopping, bowling, and visiting friends at the farmer’s market. Holidays for Ashlyn are more than a special occasion, and Grandma’s efforts at making them all Ashlyn dreamed could not be outdone. Under Robin’s care, Ashlyn thrived as she learned many new life and language skills that will continue to serve her well long into the future. Robin was incredibly proud of her children; Michael, a successful businessman, and his beautiful wife Doris, an accomplished bilingual model and actress, and Jackie, the founder and Executive Director of Texans for Vaccine Choice. Her three grandchildren Ashlyn, Noah, and Grace were the light of her life. She loved nothing more than to watch Noah play golf or hear her beautiful Gracie girl sing in the children’s choir. She was looking forward to the next chapter of their lives as they approach graduation and adulthood. Robin was preceded in death by her mother Bessie Morris, her brother David Overcash, and her dear friend Cynthia. She is survived by countless family and friends. Family: David and Laily Schlegel of Amelia Island, Florida; Michael and Doris Schlegel of Henderson, Nevada; Jackie Schlegel, mother to Ashlyn, Noah, and Grace Polvado, of Arlington, Texas; and Patsy Overcash of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Friends: Maureen Kaufman of Frederick, Maryland; Roz Redmond of Houston, Texas; Vince Gargani of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Blaine and Francine Cooper of Elgin, Texas. A private celebration of life will be held in Bastrop County on October 30th, 2021. A separate spreading of the ashes will take place on Amelia Island, Florida, in February 2022.
