Sharon Pumphrey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Sharon Olivia (Yates) Pumphrey Sharon Olivia Yates Pumphrey of Pflugerville, Conroe and Odessa passed away peacefully November 4th, 2017 surrounded by her family. Sharon was born in Odessa to Eunice and S.O. Yates in June of 1947. She graduated from Ector High School where she met the love of her life, Cliff Pumphrey. She and Cliff later married after he served two tours in Korea and had three beautiful children. Sharon was a dedicated stay at home mom who somehow found time to finish her Associates degree at Odessa College and work part time while attending PTO, Band Booster and Girl Scout meetings. She never missed a football game, theater performance or concert and never missed a class, due date or exam. When their family moved to Conroe, Sharon was able to attend Sam Houston State University where she earned her Bachelors degree and was inducted into the Golden Key National Honor Society. Her faith in God was strengthened and deepened with each of her own accomplishments as well as the accomplishments of her children. On her drives to and from SHSU each fall she marveled at the beautiful colors of all the trees. She was an avid lover of wildlife, camping and fishing. To honor her love of the outdoors a memorial service will be held on December 9th in Huntsville State Park, one of her favorite places, to watch the “trees turn”. Sharon is preceded in death by both her parents, older sisters and brother. She is survived by her soul mate, Cliff, her children, Michelle Pumphrey, Chip Pumphrey and Cheryl and Clair Rollman-Tinajero as well as her six grandchildren Jocalynn, Amber, Miles and Zoe Soliz along with Rowan and Gregory Rollman, all of whom were the absolute stars in the night sky to Sharon. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The Yates and Trent families are massive! While Sharon will be deeply missed, her family takes solace in knowing that the card game finally has the last seat filled and Eunice, Lurlie, Linda, Cody and S.O. can finally deal her in. Give them heck, Momma!
