Vickie Arroyo

September 4, 1960 - March 9, 2019

On September 4, 1960, Vickie Diane Morris was born to her parents while they were stationed on the Naval Base of Camp Lejeune, NC. A member of a military family, she was able to move around the country until they settled in Beaumont, TX, located in Jefferson County. She graduated from French High School in 1979 and went on to study nursing at Lamar University. After graduation, she married Paul Palmer and to this union, had three children - Mary, Jessica and Paul Christopher. In 2003, she married Daniel Arroyo, who had two children, Torah Brown and LeAnne Gollas that she loved as her own. Vickie was a stay-at-home mother and an avid volunteer. A member of the PTA and Campus Advisory Councils, she was always actively involved in promoting the well-being of children and education. For many years she was a devoted source of support and rest for caregivers at Mike's Place, a respite program for people with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's disease and other types of memory loss and dementia. Vickie began working in the early 2000's with the Travis County Elections Division in various capacities and continued until 2018. She entered into rest Saturday, March 9, 2019 and was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Morris; brother, Walter Morris, Jr.; aunt, Mary Abbie Dugard; and father, Walter Morris, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory: Husband, Daniel Arroyo; daughters Mary C. and Jessica Palmer; son, Paul Christopher Palmer; step-daughters LeAnne Gollas and Torah Brown; sisters Ramona Lewis and Lena Morris Thomas; brother, Nolan Berott; granddaughter, Jada; step-grandchildren Abraham "AJ", Isaiah, Sophia, Tori'ahn and Hasan and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
