Dorothy Lee Kennon

On April 25th, 2024 the Lord opened his arms and took Dorothy Lee Trout/Kennon to her Heavenly home. She went peacefully while family comforted her with love during transition. She has been reunited with her mother Sarah B Rook/Trout, her father, Arthur Trout, and recently her aunt Mary Herring. Dorothy was born in Memphis, TN with one sister, Rachel Trout/Barlow and they both attended Frayser High School where she met her first love John J Kennon. They married and soon moved to Alaska where they started to build their family that are missing her today. She had two beautiful daughters, Kaleen and a few years later Cheryl, who both brought grandchildren and great grandchildren into her life. Dorothy attended college studying anthropology, psychology, and art, all while working in the Girl Scouts in the 60's while she was building her legacy in Anchorage. In the 80's she had the opportunity to travel the country in an 18 wheeler and appreciate all of the lower 48 with Jiri (Joe) Barton. She always had many great stories from her adventures. She loved the fact that when she saw a landscape in movies or television she could tell you exactly what state it was that was being shown. Dorothys last two decades of working life was for the Travis County Appraisal Office in downtown Austin. She lived quite a bit farther north so she would ride the bus in the morning, work all day, and then ride the bus back home every day and still took care of everything at home in her older years. All of her coworkers and regular customers loved her energy and personality. She has given many people motivation to never give up in life and it's never too late Dorothy retired and moved to the country in Leander in 2000 where she took care of her mother until her passing. She always gave the most of herself to her family, they were most important to her. She enjoyed looking out her windows and appreciating nature instead of neighborhood. Dorothy is survived by and heartbreakingly missed by her daughters Cheryl Kennon, Kaleen and husband Victor Jones, grandchildren Jenny Kennon, Jamila and husband Donald (Snow) Snowden, Darnell and wife Angela Jones, Ortavius (Art) Jones and wife Jamie Montemayor, Cameo and husband Samuel Wetzl, great grandchildren Roxton Kennon, Ava Jones, Dayvion and most recently Walker Colt Wetzl. She loved all of her people with all of her heart and we are all awaiting the day when we will be reunited with her beautiful soul. .
