James Mark Riddle

Mark was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 10, 1961. He passed away on June 4, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. Mark grew up in Birmingham and attended Huffman High School where he was first chair Tuba in the Marching Band. He also was a Whiz on the Math Team!! After High School he attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham, majoring in Mathematics. It was there that he joined, became a president, and is now a Charter Member of his beloved fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon. After college Mark began a long and successful career on the computer software industry. He was a Rock Star as a Sales Engineer! As one past President of his holy grail Tivoli stated “He could pull a rabbit out of a hat to make something magical happen.” Mark spent the last 25 years of his life in Austin, Texas where he met and married the love of his life Shari and helped raise his step-son Derek who is now married to Kareema. Mark worked hard, and also played hard. He was an avid golfer and spent 23 years as a very active member of Balcones Country Club. One of his finest moments was his Hole In One on #17 in 2012. He loved Football, and often referred to himself as a “long suffering” Raiders fan. He was even a multi champion of his fantasy football league, The Balcones Sandbaggers. Known as The Best Dog Dad Ever, he loved his baby girls Roxxie and Sara Belle. Mark was preceded in death by his father James “Roger” Riddle. He’s survived by his mother Nedra, brother Brad and wife Patty, brother Doug and wife Le’An, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Mark never met a stranger and was the king of the “Side Hug”. He will be greatly missed. We believe he left a legacy never matched for a live well lived. He will have a road show of celebrations of life Parties! The first will take place at Balcones Country Club in Austin, Texas on Sunday, July 11 2021 at 5:00 pm The second will take place at Roebuck Golf Course and Roegusta Sports Bar in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, August 14th 2021 at 5:00pm Flowers are welcome, but Mark would also enjoy a donation in his name to the charity of your choice.
