Mark Paul Fintel

Mark Paul Fintel, 74, of Austin, TX, formerly of Larkspur, CO, died on Monday, September 7, 2026 in Cedar Park, TX. He was born on January 26, 1952 in Chilicothe, MO to Willis and Sue Fintel. Mark was baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chilicothe on February 3, 1952. Mark reaffirmed his baptismal faith by rite of confirmation at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kendall, FL, on May 29, 1966. He married Rebecca Jan Rottmann on May 12, 1979 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Klein, TX. In their marriage, they were blessed with 2 sons, Nathan and Kurtis. He attended schools in Rocky River, OH and graduated from Lutheran High School West in 1971. While in high school, Mark was a starting member of the basketball team. He then studied structural engineering at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH and then attended trade school in Cleveland, OH. Mark then started his professional career in the construction trade; building or remodeling homes and commercial businesses. His career eventually spanned 44 years culminating with a contract for supporting the Bureau of Reclamation’s offices at the Denver Federal Center. After his retirement in 2016 he continued his ministry to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by joining an organization affiliated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, the Laborers For Christ. LFC constructed many new churches and schools in various states. Additionally, the organization remodeled many existing churches, schools and summer camp facilities throughout the country. Mark always proclaimed that joining Laborers For Christ was the highlight of his career as a construction professional. He was preceded in death by his father Willis and his sister Gail Breedlove. He is survived by his mother Sue of Hastings, NE; wife of 47 years, Rebecca, of Austin; son Nathan, grandchildren Mya, Daniel and Kaitlynn of San Antonio; son Kurtis of Tomball; sister Paula English of Riverton, WY and many loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, TX.
