Robert Allan Mann October 3 1944 - May 31 2026 “Bob” Oh Mann we’ve lost a good one! Bob got to enjoy one last Cubs win with wife Cindy, daughter Cristina, and son, Bob from the comfort of home before passing peacefully in his sleep that night. Cubs & Cowboys were a big part of family time. He loved traveling cross-country for Cubs games: from Spring Training in Arizona to Wrigley Field; CA to NY. Bob loved to cheer on the Cubs with shouts of “Give it a ride!” and “Ducks on the pond!” Bob's life was filled with music. He saw Elvis Presley in his hometown of Waco in 1956, The Beatles in Dallas, Willie’s Picnics, ACL recordings, and countless others. Bob passed on his love of music to his children: son, Bob, would sit in his lap as they’d play guitar together; Cristina learned how to dance feet-on-feet to Paul Ray's “Twine Time” in the living room. Bob was creative not just in music: he loved to draw, drafting up project ideas; and he spent years researching Pancho Villa and Texas history, writing up his findings. A 6th generation son of Ollie Wayne Mann and Lois McEntire Mann, Bob also became a Sons of the Republic of Texas member. He was crafty in beers and meats as well! Bob began homebrewing in the early 90’s using a family recipe from the prohibition era and won contest after contest - go see his plaque in the Texas Chili Parlor, where he was also named “bartender emeritus” alongside wife, Cindy, who was their first waitress. He made an outstanding Texas chili and always said, “anyone who knows beans about chili knows that chili has no beans!” Bob was proud of his military service: he enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 and went to Korea. He was also proud of his career in Real Estate: he lived in Austin since the late ‘60’s, was a Broker for the better part of 50 years, Director of the Board of Realtors in the ‘80’s, and a Special Commissioner. Bob and his bride, Cindy, were married for 51 years. They had epic adventures together: Colorado, Mexico, Lake Travis, the beach, and their cabin out in “the country.” He was the most proud of his children and his three grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Lulu, and Willie. He loved doing all the Dad things: coaching little league, bike rides, hunting trips, camping all across central Texas. He was a mentor at Highland Park Elementary, and always reminded family and friends the importance of saving cold indoor air, “the door’s standing wide open and the air conditioner is just a blowin!” Bob's stories will be told for generations, “of all the times I’ve had, this has been one of them.” We love you and miss you, Papa.
