Theresa Marlene Traina

Theresa (Terry) Marlene Traina, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024 at Hill Country Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Copperas Cove, Texas. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Ann (Chris) Mack of New Braunfels, Texas and her grandson Christopher Mack of San Marcos, Texas. Born September 8, 1943 in Tomah, Wisconsin, she was the daughter to the late Joe Traina and Hazel (Waldron) Domenk. As a proud and devoted Army spouse, she lived in Baumholder, Germany; Columbus, Georgia; Beek, Holland and lastly, moving to Killeen, Texas in 1978 where she lived the rest of her life raising her daughter Liz and becoming active in her community. Her energy and love of people propelled her to be one of the top Realtors in Killeen for over 20 years. Finding the perfect home for families gave her so much pride. After her career in real estate, she went to work in administration for the University of Central Texas (Central Texas College). This fueled her desire to continue learning and she receive her Associates Degree with honors and was named on the Dean’s list. Helping her community, especially children, was so important to her and as a coordinator for the Special Olympics, she loved making everyone around her feel empowered. One of her favorite fundraising events she helped to coordinate was the Special Olympics Airplane Pull. As a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troops wherever they lived, she was the shining example of the best mom. Terry was the “cool mom” to all her daughter’s friends. Always making everyone feel at home, her house was where everyone liked to hang out. She enjoyed baking especially for her neighbors who would be the happy recipients of her goodies. In the early 2000’s, she served as a volunteer in the Kiwanis Club sitting on the scholarship committee and spending time helping others at Meals on Wheels. Her love extended to her cats and the very many she had. When she was not out and about helping others, her favorite down time was watching old movies on TV. A love that she passed down to her daughter. We will miss her laughter and her wonderful sense of humor that she always displayed. Most of all we will miss her love and warm hugs but will never forget the impact she has made on our lives. Many thanks to all who helped care for Terry in her final months. Your kindness was much appreciated and will not be forgotten. A remembrance of her life will be held at her home at a later date.
